U.S. champion Nathan Chen and former world silver medalist Ashley Wagner headline the Team USA roster at the 2017 World Team Trophy. The World Team Trophy will be held April 20-22 in Tokyo and feature the six best figure skating countries from the 2016-17 season: Canada, China, France, Japan, Russia and the United States.
Joining Chen on the men's side is 2015 U.S. champion Jason Brown, while 2017 U.S. champion Karen Chen will also make the trip to Tokyo. Team USA will be represented in dance by two-time world medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates and in pairs by U.S. bronze medalists Ashley Cain and Timothy LeDuc.
The U.S. has earned medals at all four World Team Trophy events, including gold in 2009, 2013 and 2015. The United States brought home the silver in 2012, when Japan won the title.
Teams will compete for a total of $1 million in prize money.
